Writing Consultants

The Writing Center employs both undergraduate and graduate consultants from diverse academic specialties, interests, and backgrounds that are ready to help all AU students. Below, find a brief bio about each of our Consultants regarding their fields of study, backgrounds, and preferred citations styles. Alexa is an undergraduate student studying Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing. She was formally a TA for Business 1.0 and has experience with different kinds of writing. Her preferred citation style is:  

Cam (he/him) is a graduate student in the International Training and Education Program. He obtained his B.S. in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cam is particularly interested in the connection between language, writing, and culture. His preferred citation style is: 

Jamie (she/her) is pursuing a Master of Public Policy with a concentration in environmental policy. She completed her undergraduate at Temple University where she studied English and Political Science and worked as a writing tutor for four years. Her preferred citation style is:

Stephanie received her MFA in Writing from American University in 2017 and has worked for the AU Student Academic Services team ever since. She is originally from Caracas, Venezuela and when she is not at the Writing Center, she spends time working with first year students with learning differences in reading and writing as part of AU's Learning Services Program.
Her preferred citation style is:  

Vilma (she/her/ella) is a graduate student M.A. in Literature, Culture, and Technology, with a specialization in Latinx Literature. She is originally from Miami, FL with roots in Nicaragua.

Azeezat (she/her) is a senior undergraduate student studying both International Studies and Political Science with specializations in justice and ethics and public policy. She is a member of AU’s Student Government Women’s Initiative Organization and AU’s African Student Organization.

Damian is a graduate student in the Global Environmental Policy program. She graduated from Baruch College with a BBA in Economics, and later pursued post-bac study in climate change economics and political science research methodology at the City University of New York.

Mel is a graduate student studying Intercultural and International Communications. They received their B.A in International Relations and Diplomacy with minors in Spanish and German. 

Rose is a graduate student studying U.S Foreign Policy and National Security. She received her B.A in Global Studies and Italian studies from the University of Richmond, and has worked as a writing tutor for over three years. Her preferred citation style is:  

Zenzele (she/her) is a graduate student studying Terrorism and Homeland Security Policy. She graduated from Bowdoin College in 2017 with a degree in Government and Legal Studies and a minor in Sociology. During this time she also worked as a Peer Writing Tutor.
