Greetings from LaTanya Sothern

Dear Alumni,
Last week, we celebrated AU changemakers during our traditional Alumni Awards Dinner and Ceremony. The event was our largest ever and absolutely shined as an example of what this university stands for. It is always an incredible opportunity to highlight some of the best stories of AU alumni.
We honored six exceptional alumni with prestigious awards, and each spoke of ways in which their experiences at AU led them down paths to success. Each of them reminded us of why we are inspired by the AU community every day. I hope that those of you in attendance with me felt the same—and that those who did not make it to this year’s event will join us in 2024.
And, for any of you who may be in Boston on June 1, I hope you’ll make plans to join our Change Can’t Wait campaign event. These events allow us to gather together and reflect on what this university means to us, something I couldn’t be more grateful for.
I am also excited that we have officially welcomed the class of 2023 to our ranks. We had an amazing lineup of commencement speakers, and our 2023 President’s Award Winner, poet Annie Przypyszny, CAS/BA ’22, is highlighted in this story.
Go Eagles!
- LaTanya Sothern, SOC/BA ’92
P.S. Please save the date for our annual Multicultural Alumni Reunion. It will take place in conjunction with Family Weekend this year, October 13-15. Hope to see you there!
